Aerification Process

The following photos show my favorite way to aerify greens. It is quick, efficient, and less labor-intensive than regular core aeration. The greens at Vesper only had 3% organic matter, which meant there was no need to pull cores twice a year. The process started with verticutting greens, followed by a heavy topdress and 5/8" solid tine aerification. The greens were then brush rolled in two directions, with the excess sand blown off the greens. In conjunction with our nutrient management program, the greens were completely healed in 9 days. The below photos show the progression of healing, from August 15th to August 24th, 2022.
